Heal with Weeds

How do you get more medicinal weeds into your meals?

Everyone has weeds growing in their yard or in their area that are edible. Dandelion greens are free, healthy and go great in a salad. The key is you don’t want to eat them if you spray pesticides.

Mallow is another wonderful weed that can be used as a substitute in your salads or meals. Mallow is one of those miracle plants where the whole plant is edible. It is also considered to be a tonic, anti-diarrheal, anti-tussive, demulcent, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and digestive. The leaves can be eaten as a salad or cooked as spinach; they can also be dried stored and made into a tea as a tonic or re-hydrated for cooking when needed.

Do you have a favorite dish you can sneak healing weeds into?

Whether it is a cold salad or a cooked dish, try using some medicinal weeds or herbs.

Dandelion greens and Mallow are two of my favorite medicinal weeds and can be added into any dish that calls for greens.

If your recipe calls for Chard, Kale or Spinach just substitute half the amount with Dandelion greens or Mallow. Make sure you have the correct identification of the weed and go for it.

You probably have weeded them from your garden and thrown them away. Once you know all the healing properties they have, hopefully, you will start to make use of them.

Mallow is one of the awesome, super healing weeds we have access to on the planet. Instead of throwing it out, you will want to gather the seeds and try to get MORE mallow to grow in your garden.

If you live in the country near a farm, orchard or animal barn, then you definitely have seen this weed. It loves disturbed soil and thrives in animal pastures and orchards.

Harvest the leaves when they are bright green and full of vitality. Harvesting can be done when the leaves are small and just sprouting up or wait until the leaves are at the height of their growth. This weed is great at any stage of life.

Chop it up; put it in salads and soups. Use it instead of lettuce on a sandwich. Mix it with chard or kale and steam it. Add it to smoothies and green drinks. Make a tea with it. You will not run out of options with this medicinal weed.

Mallow is full of mucilaginous properties that help to soothe and heal the digestive tract. It helps to heal gastritis, ulcers and any gastrointestinal inflammation. Just add it to your diet on a daily basis for several weeks.

You will notice the difference! However, you don’t have to be sick to enjoy the healing benefits of this plant. It is one of the nutritive, soothing weeds that anyone can benefit from using.

Gather several large leaves, mince them into tiny pieces and sprinkle them over your dinner like you would parsley. Mallow is delicious this way. Try it sprinkled over your rice, stir fries and just about any savory meal.

This isn’t a plant that you will find at the market, so start cultivating your weed patch. Enjoy!

Please share with anyone that you think might benefit from this information!
