Winter Solstice and Full Moon Energies Are Overlapping
The Solstice will always bring a shift in energy, however, we are also in the energies of the Full Cold Moon, it comes in just one day after the solstice but the energies of both began around the 13th. The last time the full moon and the solstice were coinciding was in 2010 and it will not happen again until 2094. So you can see it is a rare event.
This full moon signifies the ending of a lunar cycle but the energies from it will bring us right to the end of 2018, or actually until the 2nd of January.
Many are finding themselves in the darkness literally and in all aspects of their being.
Darkness is not necessarily scary, it can be quite peaceful and we can use it for a time of reflection and renewal.
You may have a strong desire to get rid of things that are not for your highest good whether that would be people, places or things and these energies will assist you with that.
This full moon is in Cancer, the first of the water signs, so the energies are calling us to a time of soaking. Whether we soak in the energies of the moon itself or in a hot tub, bath tub or body of water. The idea is to wash away anything that leaves you feeling insecure or out of balance. Your being called to call back your power for regeneration, renewal and self-reflection.
The winter solstice is a time of quiet energy, where you get the opportunity to look within yourself and focus on what you want and need. It’s a time to set goals and intentions for the coming year, to examine and let go of our past especially our hurtful or wounded past, and to make changes within ourselves. The solstice is essentially tied to a personal awakening.
Both the Full Moon and the Solstice are times where ritual should be present.
Here are a few ideas for you. This is my favorite way to celebrate the Solstice.
Get into your PJ’s, light a candle or have a flashlight ready. Turn your phone, laptop and your TV off. I even remove my Fitbit.
Take some time to think deeply about yourself, your past, and what you want for your future. This is a time where you really want to dig deep and be honest with yourself. Then light a fire, grab a piece of paper, write down all the things you can think of that you want to let go of, just keep writing, when you lose steam ask yourself again and again, out loud, “what do I want to let go of” or “what do I need to let go of” when you feel you have truly reached the end of your list say a prayer of release, something like “ I release all things that have held me back or are not for my highest good”, toss the paper into the fire as a symbol of release. Take as long as you need to just sit in silence with the divine. Keep the lights off, and embrace the darkness. Now leaving the lights off, take your candle or flashlight, make sure you are safe, and make you way to bed.
Could there be a more perfect way to enter the new year? Free of what has held you back.
Another way to honor this time of year, along with the Full Moon and Solstice, would be LOVE.
I have never seen so much anger, frustration and fear or so many people feeling disoriented. This is a time to really dig into self love and the experience of “love thy neighbor”. People are really needing to know someone cares about them, just a hug, a smile or compliment can change someone’s life. Be ready to give that. Be kind.
Be Blessed and have a very Merry Christmas!
