A Simple Self-Healing Tip For You

Are You Dehydrated?

The fact is 75% of Americans are.

Drinking enough water is one of our most basic and critical health needs. Proper hydration is important for metabolism, energy, proper digestion and immune function. It is also important for healthy looking skin so if you are wanting young, supple, radiant skin this is the easiest and least expensive way to get it. Although various surveys found that many Americans drank about eight servings of hydrating beverages per day, the hydration they would receive from that is often undone by drinking caffeinated beverages and alcohol and eating a diet high in sodium.

So, the scary fact is…75% of Americans are dehydrated.

Think about your own drinking habits, do you drink enough water? Why or why not? I have a hard time drinking water because I find it to either be tasteless, as in purified water, or if it is city tap water it tastes like chlorine and fluoride and I just can’t make myself drink it. Essential oils have made a big difference in how much water I consume because they help flavor the water and I am getting therapeutic benefits from them at the same time!

Keep in mind not all essential oils are created equal. Most cannot safely be used internally. Please do not add store bought oils to your water, read the label and only use oils that specifically say for internal use. Most store bought essential oils are synthetic with many chemicals added.

Here are some great essential oils that you can add to your water for health benefits: ***as long as they are to be taken internally***

Lemon
1 or 2 drops will help with seasonal respiratory discomfort while aiding with cleansing the body’s systems. Lemon also has been known to provide digestive benefits for those who desire a bit of a boost to that system.

Peppermint
1 or 2 drops added to a glass of cool water will help the function of the digestive system, soothe the body and refresh your breath.

Wild Orange
Add a drop to a glass of water to promote your overall health and help to support immunity.

Grapefruit
Add 1 or 2 drops to your water to support a healthy metabolism. This oil is particularly appreciated by those seeking to maintain a healthy weight.

OnGuard blend
Contains Clove Bud, Cinnamon Bark, Wild Orange, Eucalyptus and Rosemary which gives you a powerful immune boost. This essential oil blend works to aid the body’s natural antioxidant defenses while supporting a healthy respiratory system.

When you consider that 80 – 85% of your brain, 50% of your blood, 70-75% of your muscles and 80% of your lungs are made up of water it only makes sense that being dehydrated harms the body and the body functions. It is a well known reason for low energy, foggy brain, muscle cramps; spasms and aches and infection of the bladder and kidneys to name a few things.

Try adding some beneficial oils and see if that gets you drinking more water. After consuming the proper amount of water for a few days notice how different you feel. ***and eliminating Caffeine, alcohol and salty foods***

I hope this self healing tip helps you. Be well.

***Precaution: Only use glass containers when adding essential oils***
