On a new moon, it’s a great time to write down your intentions for the upcoming month and ask the universe for assistance in realizing them. You want to make sure it’s a ritual that is about a fresh beginning, one that you are releasing the old, and moving forward in a way that is for your highest good. While some people enjoy coming up with their own ritual others find that daunting, so end up doing nothing. I want to be of assistance in case you feel led to use one that is given to you. Here’s a simple one that you may like.
Supplies
- Sea salt
- Sage leaves or a sage smudge stick
- Pen and paper/journal (I prefer my journal)
- A candle
- Any herbs or essential oils that you love (optional but I love Lavender, Cheer or Citrus Bliss)
The ritual:
Open any windows a crack, light your sage, and extinguish any fire and allow it to smolder and allow the smoke to wash over your body and go around the room to cleanse your space. Once the smoke has filled every corner of your home (or at least the room you will be in for the ritual), give any negative energy a moment to escape.
Now draw a hot bath and pour the sea salt, herbs, and a few drops of the essential oils into the water. Take time to relax, give yourself at least 20 minutes soaking time. Perhaps shut your eyes and imagine a white light surrounding you, removing all the toxic thoughts, feelings, and attitudes from your body. Once you’re finished, think that as the water disappears down the drain, your negative energy is going with it.
Wrap yourself up in a comfy robe or your PJ’s and sit in your sacred space, light the candle, and write down your intentions in a positive manner, as though they’ve already been manifested. For example, you would write, “I am a creative, inspired fempreneur” instead of “I won’t be negative, stuck and impatient while I’m working.” The wording here is very important; any negative words like “can’t”, “won’t”, or “not” will block your true intentions.
Once you are finished, take time to meditate on your intentions. Really feel the energy of them being your reality. The reason I like a journal is you can go back at the end of the year and read all of your intentions an it is inspiring to see that they have truly become your reality. It’s a good reminder.
