Tis the Season For Hydration
With the winter weather coming on it is so important to do all we can to hydrate our skin. Between the chilly, windy weather and intense indoor heat in our homes and cars, you have to take extra steps to help keep your skin as hydrated as possible.
A simple remedy is DIY lotion bars. They’re fairly easy to make and also a great gift for your loved ones. With the holiday season upon us these would make a wonderful gift.
Ingredients:
1/3 Cup Coconut Oil
(If you tend to dry out from coconut oil you can substitute any oil you like such as mango, babassu or cocoa oil but you may need to adjust your beeswax to get the consistency you desire.
@planttherapy makes a blend that is kid friendly
1/3 Cup Beeswax
1/3 Cup Shea Butter
10=12 drops of your favorite Essential Oils
Lavender, Wild Orange, Citrus Bliss, or Cheer DoTerra Essential Oils are some of my favorites to use. Lavender is good for skin conditions.
Instructions:
Melt your coconut (or substitute oil), Shea butter and beeswax in a double boiler
Remove from heat and add your Essential Oils
Pour into your molds and allow them to set until they have hardened
Use a pretty piece of paper to wrap around each bar and tie with a piece of raffia or twine and you have a beautiful homemade gift to give. You may want to do a set of 3 for gift giving.
An added tip: You can grind oatmeal into a powder, put it in a recycled jar with raffia and give it as a bath soak to soothe and hydrate winter skin. Or really get ambitious and mix it with Epsom Salt, Sea Salt and Baking Soda for a luxurious, cleansing and hydrating soak. You can also add a few drops of your favorite Essential Oil.
P.S. Don’t forget to infuse with LOVE.
Happy Holidays!
