I LOVE October!

All the leaves are turning and everywhere you look you see beautiful bursts of color, but that isn’t all there is to look at.

Look to the skies in October as it is peak meteor season. Seven different meteor showers will reach their peak this month. October 21st is the peak for the Orionids Meteor Shower. This will be the highlight of the month.

October 5 was the peak of the Camelopardalis Meteor Shower

October 9 was the peak of the Draconid Meteor Shower, we also had the Full Moon so the energies were extra intense!

October 11th was the peak of the Aurigid Meteor Shower

October 18th is the peak of the Gemini Meteor Shower

October 21st is the peak of the Orionid Meteor Shower. This lasts from the 16th-30th, but the 21st will be your best opportunity to see up to 21 meteors per hour. Just look towards Orion in the Eastern Sky and observe.

October 24th is the peak of the Leonis Minorid Meteor Shower

That isn’t the end to your sky gazing. On the 25th, there will be a Partial Solar Eclipse. Unfortunately, many won’t be able to see it. It should be visible in Eastern Greenland, Iceland, Northern and Eastern Africa, the Middle East, most of Europe, Central Asia, Eastern Russia and India. Even though the rest of us won’t see it, we will FEEL it.

Along with all these events sending in new frequencies, the sun continues spewing solar flares and eruptions that send enormous amounts of energy to you.

While you’re watching the skies for meteors, keep an eye out for beautiful sunsets and auroras caused by these solar events. The particles that reach our atmosphere can make for the most gorgeous sunsets, auroras and Northern Lights.
